Redwork Notes

The pictures of the redwork designs are scans of my test sew outs.  The designs were tested using:

  • Muslin and tear away stabilizer and/or

  • Muslin, 100% cotton batting and tear away stabilizer.

Please note that even if you are using the designs for quilting rather than just decorative purposes, you still need to use a tear away or wash away stabilizer.  If you use just batting the stitches will not line up because the batting stretches so add a piece of stabilizer and the stitches will line up perfectly!

Just to mix it up a little I've also included a few colorwork designs.  A separate "one colorwork" (redwork) and "two colorwork" designs are included because extra jumps are required for the two colorwork but not for the one colorwork so if you just want to do one colorwork you don't have to bother with the extra jumps. 

Of course, you're not limited to just making a quilt with these cuties.  They would also be great on a book bag or book cover, a wall hanging or even along the bottom of the curtains in your child's room!

These designs make a great child's cloth book but they would also be nice on a crib quilt.  This set includes 13 designs in the 4x4 and 5x7 hoop sizes:  $20

  • 9 large designs for the pages or quilt blocks*

  • 2 small designs (pig and turtle) used on the cover and quilt block

*The 9 large designs are done in a thicker stitch, more like traditional redwork.  The small designs used on the cover are done in a straight stitch.

Redwork Baskets

These baskets are gorgeous sewn out!  I used several different types of stitches:  Backstitch, Candlewick, Stemstitch and of course, straight stitch and a little satin stitch.  There are a few more jump stitches than I usually use because some of the flowers are floating so there was no way around a few jump stitches.  Baskets are for the 5x7 hoop size only:  $5.00 each
