Outline
Quilting Designs
with Stippling and Candlewick
I’ve taken some of my
favorite outline quilt designs and added a little stippling to the
embroidery designs. Okay,
I'll admit it, I got a little carried away and also added a
candlewick border. Just think of them as 3 for 1 designs:
If
all you want is the outline design, just sew the last color.
If
you want just the outline design and the stippling, just sew the
first and third colors.
The
pictures don't do these designs justice! The white on white is
absolutely gorgeous! The sew outs below were done with 2
layers of batting, light tear away stabilizer and
muslin. It is important to still use a stabilizer (tear
away, wash away or even cut away) because just using batting does
not give the designs enough support. I've started using the "no
show" nylon cut away stabilizer. It has all the support you
need plus it's sheer, soft and supple and you can just leave it in
the embroidery design. I can't tell it's even there.

Patchwork Outline
Embroidery Designs
The borders on the outline and stipple filled patchwork quilt
embroidery designs are done in a stemstitch. The set includes 13 designs
for the 4x4 or 5x7 hoops.
These designs are digitized in two colors. Light
blue for the stipple and dark blue for the outline. Of course, you
can use any colors you like or just one color. The stipple design
stitches first and there are jump stitches in some of the stipple
designs. Just cut the jump stitches before sewing the outline.
Sorry about the pictures. These are from
before I got my scanner but the designs sew out great!
